Stigma against homosexuals, sex workers main cause of HIV prevalence - rights groups
- KNCHR vice chair George Morara termed the trend worrisome, adding that these key populations have a prevalence three times higher than the national level, which stands at 5.9 per cent.
"Government figures indicate that 30 per cent of new HIV infections are among key populations," he said on Wednesday. He was speaking at a Kenya National Advocacy workshop convened on reducing violence and discrimination against key populations. Morara called for concerted efforts to support the group, adding that there was need among stakeholders to strengthen advocacy strategies.
